HUNTING IN ZAMBIA
Zambia offers hunting in the classical sense, vast open wilderness concessions where Africa's large beasts wander freely, pretty much as they did a 100 years ago in relative solitude. As a hunter you get the feeling that your time here is temporary and at best, fractious, able to change in an instant. Of all Africa's hunting countries, Zambia must stand amongst the top 3 as the destination of choice for those seeking the true African hunting experience. No matter if you're after the larger beasts or simply seeking the solitude of an African wilderness hunt, Zambia is where you'll find the safari of your dreams.
HUNTING AREAS
Shiwa Ngandu is a magnificent Colonial Country Estate established in the 1920’s. It takes its name from a lake in the centre of the reserve called Lake Ishiba which in Bemba language means “Lake of the Royal Crocodiles”. The reserve covers an area of twenty three thousand acres, is not fully fenced, and is the main base for operations of Shiwa Expeditions. In 2003 the World Record for a Blue Duiker was set
here and is still held today. In addition there is a number of excellent trophy Sitatunga available at Shiwa. All rooms in the house are en suite with showers /baths and there is generator power for electricity.
Mukungule Game Management Area. Nestling up against a spectacular waterfall, the Mukungule Hunting Camp is a simple rustic grass and reed mat Bushcamp deep in the pristine Mopane and Miombo woodlands of the North Luangwa GMA. Bathrooms are en suite and a generator and solar lighting supplies electricity for the camp.
Bangweulu Swamps. This is a vast area of outstanding natural beauty and is a short flight of some 40 mins from Shiwa. Safaris
here are based at a wonderful Bushcamp on the edge of the vast grassy floodplains of the Swamps fringed by savanna woodlands. Accommodation comprises of comfortable but rustic chalets constructed with grass and reed matting and including en suite wc’s and hot
and cold showers. There is only solar and paraffin lamp lighting at this camp.
